Viola Galligioni serves as the Head of Animal Facilities at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience since May 2022, bringing extensive experience in managing diverse animal research facilities. Prior roles include Designated Veterinarian at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Facility Manager at Trinity College Dublin, overseeing multi-site vivaria and breeding programs. Viola has been actively involved in training and education as a faculty member for CephsInAction training schools and a lecturer at the University of Trento. As Vice Chair and Director of the Animal Center at FNUSA-ICRC, responsibilities included managing laboratory animal facilities and pre-clinical research support. Viola holds a PhD in Veterinary Medicine and has completed specialized training in laboratory animal management and care.
