Brian Schaefer CSPO has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Starting in 1989, they worked as an Accountant and Transportation Manager at Mock Resources until 1992. Brian then joined Packaging Plus as a Staff Accountant from 1992 to 1996, where they prepared financial statements and conducted gross profit analysis. From 1996 to 2008, Brian worked at Ingram Micro, where they held various positions including Accounting Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Business Development Manager. Brian implemented process improvements, developed procurement programs, and led cross-functional projects. In 2008, Brian joined NetSpend as the Director of Accounting Operations, overseeing strategic accounting shared services and implementing Oracle modules. Brian delivered significant cost savings through managed purchasing policies. From 2013 to 2014, they worked at Visa as the Director of Finance Operations, responsible for a global financial operations shared service center. Brian managed a team of 20 associates and led upgrade and implementation projects. Returning to NetSpend in 2015, Brian served as the Senior Project Manager, Product Owner, and currently holds the position of Director of Product Management.
Brian Schaefer CSPO has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a focus on Management from Cal State Fullerton, College of Business and Economics. Additionally, they have studied Intermediate Accounting at UC Irvine. Brian has also obtained the Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification from the Scrum Alliance in February 2018.
