Dr. Zafonte is the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chair of the Dept. of PMR at Harvard Medical School Before, Dr. Zafonte served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition to his leadership roles at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Zafonte maintained a clinical practice in which he cared for patients with a wide variety of disabilities, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, compressive neuropathies, spasticity, and post concussive musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Zafonte is a pioneer in proposing the use of dopaminergic stimulants for neurological low-level functioning patients. Dr. Zafonte is a co-author of “Brain Injury Medicine”, the authoritative texbook for this field of medicine.
