Stu Burgess

Stu Burgess is a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Engineer currently employed at Nevada National Security Sites since December 2023. Prior to this role, Stu worked as a System Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories from August 2020 to November 2023. With a strong background in the US Navy, Stu served as a Surface Warfare Officer (Nuclear) from October 2012 to March 2019, holding various positions on multiple vessels, including Assistant Reactor Training Officer and Propulsion Plant Watch Officer aboard the USS Harry S Truman. Earlier experiences include leadership roles in ordnance and combat electronics, engineering internships focused on materials testing and statistical analysis, and academic support through teaching assistance. Stu holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
