Shakeel Tirmizi has extensive experience in chemical engineering, process development, and product commercialization. Shakeel began their career at International Flavors and Fragrances as a research engineer, where they focused on specialty chemicals and process development. Shakeel then joined ExxonMobil as a staff engineer, leading the scale-up and production support of Poly Alpha Olefins (PAOs), synthetic lubricant basestocks. At Range Fuels, Inc., they served as the Director of Process Development, spearheading technology development, R&D, and business development in the production of cellulosic ethanol. Shakeel later worked as a Principal Scientist at Amyris and Novvi, LLC, where they contributed their expertise to various scientific projects. Shakeel then co-founded Greener Earth Technologies LLC, where they acted as a consultant for chemical process development and played a key role in developing renewable synthetic lubricant businesses. Currently, Shakeel serves as the Chief Chemical Engineer at the New Jersey Innovation Institute, focusing on chemical process simulation and modeling, process development, and optimization of cellulose-derived polymeric products and processes.
Shakeel Tirmizi completed their BTech Honors degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, spanning from 1977 to 1982. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, from 1983 to 1987.
