Gabe Smith is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Assistant Attorney General at the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General since May 2022, where responsibilities include reviewing public complaints related to the Inspection of Public Records Act and the Open Meetings Act, representing public bodies in compliance matters, and providing legal counsel. Prior to this role, Gabe held positions as Assistant City Attorney at the Santa Fe City Attorney's Office and as an Assistant District Attorney at the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office, specializing in IPRA claims and misdemeanor prosecutions respectively. Additionally, Gabe has worked as an Attorney in private practice and as an Associate Attorney at Murdock Law Firm, handling complex litigation in oil and gas royalty cases. Gabe holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from UC Santa Barbara.
