Ranney Mize is a Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience and Cell Biology-Anatomy at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, with extensive experience in neuroscience research and education across medical and graduate programs since January 1992. Mize has held leadership roles including Co-Director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program and Head of the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy. Active in the arts community, Mize served as the Immediate Past President and Life Trustee of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and has held multiple leadership positions within the New Orleans Opera Association and New Orleans Friends of Music. Mize's educational background includes a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and a Ph.D. in Biopsychology from the University of Chicago. Mize previously was a Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before moving to New Orleans.
