Sergeant Troy L. Dickerson, BCJ, M.A. has extensive work experience in law enforcement and forensic science. Sergeant Troy L. started their career in 1999 at the New Orleans Police Department, where they served as the Assistant Commander in the Scientific Criminal Investigation Division. Sergeant Troy L. was responsible for coordinating and overseeing criminal investigations related to forensic evidence. Recently, they have taken on the role of Interim Crime Laboratory Director, where they are involved in managing and directing the operations of the crime laboratory. In addition to their work in law enforcement, Sergeant Dickerson has also been an Adjunct Professor in Forensic Science at Southern University at New Orleans since 2020.
Sergeant Troy L. Dickerson, BCJ, M.A. has a Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) degree in Forensic Science from Loyola University New Orleans, which was obtained in 2008. In the same year, they also attended The University of Southern Mississippi for a program in International Forensic Science Academy, specializing in Forensic Science.
Later on, in 2012, Sergeant Dickerson pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Law Enforcement Administration from Southern University at New Orleans. Their thesis titled "Investigating the C.S.I. Effect: Is Crime Drama Television Influencing Jurors in Trial" contributed to their expertise in the field.
Additionally, Sergeant Dickerson has obtained certifications in various areas. In 1999, they became a Certified Fingerprint Quality Control Technician through RMG Systems, Ltd. Sergeant Troy L. also holds certifications in Certified Intoxilyzer 5000 Operator and Certified Standardized Field Sobriety Testing from the State of Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Furthermore, they are a P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor, earning this certification through the F.B.I. and Louisiana POST Council.
