Kristin Emery

Kristin Emery has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and organizations. Kristin started their career as a Conservation Intern at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, where they assisted in reorganizing collections and conducted conservation efforts. Kristin then worked as an Education Intern at the Indiana University Art Museum, where they conducted research on ancient jewelry and developed educational tours. Kristin also worked as a Genealogy Library Assistant at the Monroe County History Center, where they conducted inventory, digitized catalogs, and assisted with community research.

After that, Kristin served as an Ameri*Corps College Coach at College Forward, providing mentoring and college advising services to low-income, first-generation high school seniors. Kristin then joined the Chicago History Museum as the Boston Stories Project Digital Archives Coordinator and Intern Team Leader, developing metadata standards and supervising interns.

Kristin also worked at the Women and Leadership Archives, Loyola University Chicago, as the Interim Director/Archival Assistant. In this role, they provided research guidance, fulfilled reference requests, and worked as an exhibit consultant.

Kristin'smost recent position was at the Newberry Library, where they held various roles including Program Assistant, Research and Academic Programs Manager, Seminars Manager, and Manager of Governance and Assistant to the President. In these roles, they managed seminars, administered fellowship programs, coordinated summer seminars and institutes, and provided support to the Office of the President. As the Director of Governance and Strategic Initiatives, they oversaw board development activities and implemented strategic projects.

Kristin Emery earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Classical Studies from Indiana University Bloomington, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Kristin later pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Public History from Loyola University Chicago, completing their studies between 2011 and 2013.
