John Stephens

CFO at The New Home

John Stephens is the current CFO at The New Home Company. Prior to this, they were the SVP & CFO at Standard Pacific Corp from November 1996 to June 2011. There, they directed companywide finance, accounting and treasury functions and led all capital markets transactions (debt & equity), tender offers, syndicated bank credit facilities and term loans. John was also the primary investor relations contact responsible for quarterly earnings calls and presentations and communication with equity and debt investors. Stephens has experience in M&A, joint venture structuring, financial reporting (GAAP and SEC), tax, internal audit and SOX compliance.

Some of their notable accomplishments from their time at Standard Pacific Corp include refinancing the entire debt capital structure totaling over $1.3 billion through multiple high yield debt offerings, tender offers and consent solicitations; this resulted in terming out near-term debt and the elimination of substantially all covenants, giving the company financial flexibility and liquidity for growth. John also arranged the syndication of a 3-year $210 million senior unsecured revolving credit facility and assisted with the consolidation of 24 operating divisions down to 12; these efforts resulted in annual SG&A savings of $115 million per year. In addition, Stephens oversaw the mortgage banking operation and $155 million in mortgage warehouse commitments.

John Stephens attended UC Santa Barbara and earned a B.A. in Business Economics with an emphasis in accounting.
