Erik Jones

Erik Jones is a seasoned professional in the mining and mineral engineering sector, currently serving as the Director of the Underground Ecosystem and Principal Advisor for Automation and Control Underground at Newmont Corporation since April 2017. Erik previously held the position of General Superintendent for MineGEM Operations at Freeport Indonesia and served as a Technical Expert for DOZ production at PT Freeport Indonesia. Erik's extensive experience includes a notable tenure as a Senior Engineer at Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold, where significant contributions included implementing key planning processes and managing substantial development budgets. Erik started their career through various engineering internships across multiple companies, gaining foundational experience in planning, drilling, and blasting. A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, Erik holds a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering.
