Gustav Nortje

Gustav Nortje is an experienced geologist with a robust background in mineral exploration and project management. Currently serving as Senior Director for Near Mine Exploration in North America and Regional Chief Geologist at Newmont Corporation since December 2019, Gustav has held various esteemed positions within the company. Prior to this, Gustav spent nearly eight years at Newcrest Mining in roles such as District Geologist and Exploration Superintendent across multiple regions including Australia and West Africa. Earlier career experience includes a position as Senior Exploration Geologist with Gold Fields Ltd and valuable contributions as an Engineering Geologist at SunWater Ltd. Academic credentials include a PhD in Structural/Economic Geology from James Cook University, an MSc with first honors in Geology from The University of Auckland, and a BSc in Geology from the same institution.
