Simon Farnsworth

Simon Farnsworth became News UK’s EVP, Chief Technology Officer in September 2022.

Simon is responsible for their multi-talented and multi-disciplinary technology teams, ensuring that they have the right overall structure and architecture, as well as the best talent and capability to deliver their world-class products to their audience of almost 40 million people each month.

He oversees all aspects of News UK’s technology infrastructure, working closely with each of their brands to deliver a high quality user experience for their audiences across publishing and broadcasting.

Simon joined News UK from Discovery, where he worked for six years, holding several senior roles, most recently as CTO, Broadcast Technology & Operations, managing a global team.

Prior to joining Discovery, Simon was CEO of GlobeCast Australia and then Head of Telstra Broadcast Services.

News UK’s Technology team has been expanding and continues to bring innovation to the business. In the last two years, the team has won several award including, best use of data to drive a business result at the INMA awards, Publishing Collaborative Champion at the New Digital Age Heroes Awards, Advocate of the Year at the Women in IT awards, and Best Presentation of Analytics at the Women + Data Hackathon, 2021.
