Tara Shanley

Tara Shanley has a diverse background in education and curriculum development. Tara most recently worked at Newsela as a Principal Curriculum Designer, where they were responsible for designing and managing curriculum for educational products. Prior to that, they worked as a Curriculum Manager and Instructional Designer at the same company. Tara also had experience at Elevate K-12 as an ELA Curriculum Advisor, where they led a team in developing lessons and assessments for virtual ELA classes. Tara had earlier positions at Knewton, the NYC Department of Education, Education Unlimited, Centenary University, Intermark Media, Nielsen, and NYU Langone Health, where they gained experience in content development, teaching, and writing. Overall, Tara has a strong background in curriculum design and education.

Tara Shanley holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in English Education from New York University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English with minors in Creative Writing and Communications from the same institution. Tara also obtained a Certificate in E-Learning Instructional Design and Development from Oregon State University. Additionally, Tara has obtained a New York State Teaching Certificate in English Language Arts, Grades 7-12, from the New York State Education Department.
