Mihai Zanfir

Mihai Zanfir is currently the Head of Artificial Intelligence at NEWTON since January 2023. Previously, Mihai served as a Research Scientist at Google from September 2019 to January 2023, working on human sensing tasks at the Google Bucharest office. Mihai's earlier role as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Mathematics of the Romanian Academy spanned from August 2010 to August 2019, focusing on human action recognition and 3D human sensing, while participating in the DE-ENIGMA project for autism therapy and reviewing academic papers in computer vision. Mihai holds a PhD in Computer Science from the School of Advanced Studies of the Romanian Academy, achieved between 2014 and 2018, as well as a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, both from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
