Josh Schellenberg

Josh Schellenberg is Senior Vice President of Advanced Analytics at Nexant. He leads a data science and policy analytics team that focuses on advancing the use of applied econometrics and machine learning applications for electric and gas utilities.

With over a decade of analytics and policy experience in the utility industry, Josh has leveraged a data-driven approach to address rapidly emerging grid modernization challenges, including distributed energy resources, grid resilience, asset management, and customer engagement.

Working with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Energy, Josh developed the Interruption Cost Estimate (ICE) Calculator (available at icecalculator.com), which utilities worldwide have used since 2011 to prioritize reliability investments. Josh has also advised President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers on estimating the economic benefits of increasing electric grid resilience to severe weather.
