Lead Scientist-in-residence at Next AI

Kristina Kupferschmidt is a Lead Scientist-in-Residence at Next AI and a PhD student at the Vector Institute under the supervision of Graham Taylor, focusing on machine learning applications in health. With experience as a co-founder and user-centered designer at Ciderpress Labs Inc., Kristina contributed to the development of the Plant Snorkel, a biodegradable gardening tool. Previous roles include Scientist-in-Residence at Next AI, Machine Learning Developer at Brainmaven Corp., and Research Engineer at the University of Alberta, where Kristina designed a mobile health device for swallowing therapy. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Engineering from the University of Guelph, a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Guelph.
