Sarah Gaffney

Sarah Gaffney has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Sarah currently serves as the Director of Design and Development at Next Stage Design + Build since February 2020. In this role, they manage a nine-person interior design staff, contributes to the company's business strategy and financial planning, and directs the growth of the design department.

Prior to their current position, Sarah worked at Next Stage Design + Build as a Design Manager from March 2016 to February 2020. In this role, they were responsible for managing a team of interior design professionals and overseeing the production of $8M in residential design-build projects annually.

Before joining Next Stage Design + Build, Sarah had their own company, Sarah Gaffney Designs, where they worked as an Interior Designer from 2009 to 2020. Additionally, they worked at Sunset Magazine | Time Inc. as a Senior Manager of Home Programs from 2005 to 2015.

Sarah also has experience as Owner/Marketing Consultant & Writer at WordsWorth from 1997 to 2004, as well as a Columnist/Reporter at Silicon Valley Community Newspapers from 1998 to 2001. Sarah started their career at Cherry Pie Graphics as a Copywriter/Project Manager from 1988 to 1997.

Sarah Gaffney began their education journey in 1983 at San Jose State University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sarah studied Advertising and Spanish and successfully completed their degree in 1988. Later, Sarah attended the University of California, Berkeley for a period that is unspecified, where they focused on Short Story Writing through their Extension program. In terms of additional certifications, Sarah recently obtained the Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler designation from NARI in January 2022.
