Tom Orvald

Tom Orvald is a seasoned electric regulatory attorney with over sixteen years of experience in representing public utilities, hydroelectric licensees, and energy market participants. Currently serving as Senior FERC Counsel at NextEra Energy, Inc., since October 2009, Tom Orvald specializes in FERC compliance, wholesale power marketing, and the development of generation, transmission, and storage projects. In addition to the current role, Tom has held the position of Senior Attorney at Florida Power & Light Company since October 2009, and previously worked as a Senior Associate at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and an attorney at Heller Ehrman. Tom Orvald holds a JD from Boston University School of Law and a BA in Politics from Princeton University.
