Sherif Elsayed-Ali has a diverse work experience that spans various sectors, including climate technology, AI, human rights, and advocacy. Sherif is currently a Co-Founder at Nexus Climate, where they focus on supporting founders addressing global challenges with relevance to the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region. Additionally, Sherif is a Podcast co-host at The Climate Collective, engaging in discussions about climate solutions and innovation. In 2020, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Carbon Re, an industrial AI company that developed software solutions for achieving fuel efficiencies. Prior to these roles, Sherif worked at Element AI, leading the AI for Climate practice and partnerships for AI for Good. Sherif also held the position of Co-chair at the Global Council on the Future of Human Rights and Technology at the World Economic Forum and conducted research at the Harvard Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. Sherif's involvement with Amnesty International includes roles such as Co-Founder of Amnesty Tech and Deputy Director of Global Issues. Sherif has also served as a Trustee at Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance - UK. Sherif's educational background includes pursuing an MPA at Harvard Kennedy School of Government and completing a fellowship.
Sherif Elsayed-Ali received their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering from The American University in Cairo in the years 1995-2000. Sherif then went on to pursue their Master's degree in Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on Management and public policy at Harvard Kennedy School from 2009-2010. Prior to their university education, Sherif attended Collège de la Sainte Famille.
