Venky Soundararajan, PhD, has established a world-class team of more than 200 MD/PhD artificial intelligence engineers, software developers, mathematicians, statisticians and biomedical scientists, trained primarily at Harvard Medical School, MIT and hospitals including Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Soundararajan leads the nference teams in the areas of scientific and clinical research, data sciences, business development and strategic partnerships.
Dr. Soundararajan is establishing a best-in-class data-sciences platform for advancing the state of biomedical research, enabled by his own scientific research at the intersection of deep-learning neural networks and their triangulation with various -omics data from patient bio-specimens, including multi-modal genomic sequencing and digital pathology. In healthcare partnerships and scientific products, his teams are teaching machines how to read and interpret unstructured biomedical knowledge in order to make the world’s biomedical knowledge computable and actionable.
Dr. Soundararajan has been pivotal in advancing R&D data science strategic partnerships with leading global biopharmaceutical companies, encompassing collaborations that include drug discovery, optimization of clinical-trial protocols and characterization of the patient journey. He and his team established the long-term strategic partnership with the Mayo Clinic Clinical Data Analytics Platform and are enabling de-identification, synthesis and commercialization of aggregated insights across electronic health records.
Dr. Soundararajan has authored over 50 scientific papers and articles, holds three patents and has more than 40 applications pending. His team’s scientific research has been covered by The Washington Post, The New York Times, STAT, CBS News and other mainstream media outlets. He holds a PhD in Biological Engineering from MIT, where he developed computational technology to study the evolution of hyper-mutative viral pathogens. He completed a fellowship in Genetics at Harvard Medical School and holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
