Maarten Vanneste is a Principal Geoscientist at the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) since August 2006, with experience in chairing Applied Shallow Marine Geophysics conferences for the EAGE and serving as Secretary on the ISO panel for Marine Geophysical Investigations. Research interests include offshore geohazards such as slope instability, sediment deformation, and gas hydrates. Prior to NGI, Maarten Vanneste was a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Geology, University of Tromsø, focusing on gas hydrate stability modeling and submarine landsliding. Maarten Vanneste earned a Ph.D. in Marine Geology & Geophysics and an MSc in Physics from Ghent University.
