Venessa Wells

Venessa has more than 15 years’ experience driving positive social change initiatives in the health and community sectors both at a board and executive level. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently a director of the Hunter Region Working Women’s Group, which governs the Hunter Women’s Centre and the Hunter Early Childhood Centre, and is a director of the Australasian Birth Trauma Association.

With a passion for health promotion, chronic disease, injury and violence prevention, Venessa has held a number of board and committee positions in the not-for-profit and public sectors, while running her own health promotion consultancy. She is working towards a Ph.D. with the University of New England in the area of leadership, judgement and decision-making.

Venessa is a former CEO of Injury Matters, a West Australian not-for-profit preventing injury and violence in the community. She has also previously worked with NSW Health, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Philippines Red Cross designing, managing and evaluating community-focused initiatives.
