Irene Marongiu

Irene Marongiu has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Most recently, they worked as a Senior Engineer at NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research starting in 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Technical Officer at University College Dublin from June 2020 to October 2022. Irene also worked at Teagasc from 2015 to 2020, holding various positions such as Technician - Mushroom Unit Manager & Horticulture Researcher, Research Technician - Potato Breeding, and Research Laboratory Technician for the Soil Quality Assessment Research Project (SQUARE). Irene gained teaching experience as a Teaching Chemical Laboratory Technician at the State Technical Institute in 2014. Additionally, they worked as a Quality Assurance professional at Keywords Studios in 2014. Irene's work experience also includes a role as a European Commission Trainee at the DG SANCO - Food and Veterinary Office and as an Expatriate Agronomist at Cesvi Fondazione Onlus. Irene has also worked as a Direct Dialog Fundraiser at Amnesty International and as a Tutor Junior and Researcher at the University of Florence. Lastly, Irene has experience as a private teacher and tutor for students at an Agricultural Technical School.

Irene Marongiu obtained a Master's degree in Tropical Rural Development from the Università degli Studi di Firenze, which they completed from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they earned a degree in Agricultural Sciences for environment and food security in tropical and sub-tropical environments from the same university, attending from 2005 to 2008. Irene's education history also includes a degree as an Agricultural technician from the Agricultural Technical Institute of Florence, which they obtained from 1999 to 2005. In addition to their academic qualifications, Irene has obtained various certifications related to health and safety, including Managing Health and Safety: Biological Agent Hazards and Managing Health and Safety: Chemical Agent Hazards from the Health and Safety Authority in 2015. Irene also received certifications in Chemical Safety Awareness and Lab Safety Fundamentals from Teagasc in 2015, and a Diploma in Food Safety from ALISON - Free Online Learning in 2014.
