Morgane Merlin

Researcher at NIBIO

Morgane Merlin has extensive work experience in research and academia. Morgane currently works as a Researcher at the NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research since August 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki from June 2020 to December 2020, where they focused on understanding the hydraulic coupling between phloem and xylem in trees.

Before their postdoctoral position, Morgane was a PhD Candidate at the University of Alberta from September 2015 to January 2020. Their PhD research involved using sap flow sensors to monitor tree water uptake and exploring the potential for hydraulic redistribution during drought in trembling aspen. Morgane also served as a Teaching Assistant during their doctoral studies, assisting with various courses and responsibilities.

Morgane gained research experience through internships at CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique, Irstea, Australian National University, and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. These internships provided their with valuable exposure to research methodologies and practical knowledge in their field.

Overall, Morgane Merlin's work experience showcases their expertise in plant physiology, data analysis, experimental design, and teaching.

Morgane Merlin has a strong educational background in the field of biology and ecology. Morgane began their academic journey at Lycée Clémenceau, where they completed their Classe préparatoire BCPST from 2008 to 2010. Subsequently, they enrolled in Pierre and Marie Curie University, completing their Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General in 2011. Morgane continued their studies at the same university, completing their Master of Science (M.Sc.) Year 1 in Ecology, Biodiversity, and Evolution in 2012. From 2013 to 2014, they pursued their Master of Science (M.Sc.) Year 2 in the same field at Pierre and Marie Curie University. Seeking further specialization, Morgane then attended Ecole normale supérieure, where they earned their ENS Diploma in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from 2010 to 2015. Finally, Morgane completed their highest level of education, attaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Forest Ecology from the University of Alberta from 2015 to 2020.
