This role will be primarily responsible for the acquisition of new client opportunities amongst the full range of potential clients in Japan. "New Clients" in this case means clients who did not spend money with Nielsen Sports in Japan in the previous 18-24 months. The secondary responsibility of this role will be to support the Client Success team in retaining and developing existing relationships, using their network to maximise the overall growth opportunity for the business. This role will be responsible to achieve an annual sales target of 1.5M USD with a focus especially on brands investing in sports sponsorship. This position requires a self-starting attitude, an understanding and appreciation of the usage and analysis of data in consulting, a real focus on collaboration, a full understanding of commercial requirements internally & externally and a true passion for sport & entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Help drive business development with the team in Japan
  • Develop client documents and presentations for business development purposes
  • Support the team on key strategic engagements from pre-sales and proposal creation through delivery to after-sale/ upsell activities
  • Support the Managing Director and team in developing the plan for the market across key sport & entertainment sector stakeholders - rights holders, brands, agencies & government organisations who have the propensity to spend on consulting initiatives
  • Collaborate closely and actively with the various parts of the business in line with the global business direction
  • Manage and support the local team

Qualifications & Skills

  • This person has to be based in Tokyo
  • Proficient in Japanese and English
  • Proven successful BD experience in a top firm or industry role, preferably with specialised sports & entertainment agencies (min 5 years experience preferably)
  • Proven business development skill set and outcomes
  • Proven project management skills and highly developed communication skills
  • Deep understanding of problem solving skills
  • Understanding and appreciation of the usage and analysis of data, market research, quantitative and qualitative, TV audience measurement data etc.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the sports and entertainment industry
  • Experience in delivering sports, entertainment or media work and related client management is desirable.
