Osama Karkout is a PhD candidate at Nikhef, focusing on probing the Higgs field through its self-coupling using data from CERN's ATLAS experiment. Previously, Osama completed a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics at Leiden University, where research included the study of Schwinger production of electron-positron pairs. Prior experience includes a research internship at the University of Science and Technology in Korea, where Osama learned to use Linux systems and MadGraph software, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, where the Bachelor's thesis resolved Supplee's paradox. Osama also founded a science institute in Syria and participated in the Syrian National Physics Olympiad, earning second prize.
