Aravind Basavapathruni

Aravind Basavapathruni has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Aravind started their career as an Analytical Chemist at Searle/Monsanto in 1998. Later, they worked as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 2006 to 2009. After that, they joined Epizyme where they held positions as a Scientist in Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology from 2009 to 2012, and later as a Senior Scientist in Lead Discovery from 2012 to 2018. Aravind then moved to Vertex Pharmaceuticals as the Associate Director and Head of High Throughput Mechanistic Biology from 2018 to 2021. Following this, Aravind joined Ikena Oncology as the Associate Director of Biochemistry & Biophysics from 2021 to 2022. Aravind was subsequently promoted to the role of Director in the same department until March 2023. Currently, Aravind holds the position of Director of Biochemistry at Nimbus Therapeutics, starting in April 2023.

Aravind Basavapathruni pursued their education in a chronological order. Aravind first attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1993 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry. Following this, they continued their academic journey at the same institution and completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemistry from 1998 to 2000. Lastly, Aravind Basavapathruni attended Yale University from 2000 to 2006, where they achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Pharmacology.
