Richard Newnham has extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Richard currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at Ninety Percent of Everything since February 2021. Previously, they worked at bp for several years, holding various roles including Business Transformation Manager, Global Relationship Manager, Commercial Lead, Managing Director, Chief of Staff, and Incident Investigator. Before joining bp, Richard worked at Carnival UK in positions such as Head of Fleet Safety, Marine and Safety Manager, Deputy Marine and Safety Manager, Personnel and Development Manager, and Navigational Deck/Safety Officer.

Richard Newnham has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biomedical Sciences from King's College London. Richard also holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in International Ship and Shipping Management from Solent University. In addition, they have a PgCert in Safety and Accident Investigation - Marine Transport from Cranfield University and a BTEC HND in Nautical Science from South Shields Marine School. Richard has obtained a Certificate of Competency from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and they are also a Chartered Marine Technologist (CMarTech) and Fellow (FIMarEST) of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
