Louis Peperzak

Louis Peperzak is a highly experienced plankton specialist currently affiliated with the NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research since March 2016, contributing to research and management in algal and plankton ecology. With a longstanding role as a ballast water specialist and director at Control Union since 2010, Louis provides expertise on phytoplankton and statistical analysis. In addition to these roles, Louis serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Sea Research, overseeing manuscript reviews. Previous positions include postdoctoral roles at NIOZ, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Nederlands Instituut voor Onderzoek der Zee, with a research focus on the effects of pollution on aquatic ecosystems. Louis holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Natural Sciences from the University of Groningen and has extensive experience in phytoplankton ecology and related monitoring programs dating back to 1985.
