Sterre Witte is a PhD candidate at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, focusing on shellfish restoration in the sublittoral Wadden Sea as part of the Wadden Mosaic project since February 2020. Previous experience includes a research internship at Wageningen Marine Research, investigating the settlement success of oyster spat on various substrates for application in offshore wind farms, and serving as a master thesis student at NIOZ, where research centered on red knot populations and their food landscape. Sterre Witte also contributed to marine biological research as a student researcher during a North Sea expedition, and held various positions in project assistance, student assistance, and sales. Sterre Witte holds multiple degrees in Marine Sciences and related fields from institutions including Utrecht University, Wageningen University & Research, and the University of Southampton.
