Systems Engineer at Nitricity

Ben Markham has a diverse work experience, starting as a Summer Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering in 2013. In this role, they conducted experiments and provided statistical analysis and analytical chemistry methods for various industries.

From 2014 to 2019, Ben served as a Nuclear Submarine Officer in the US Navy.

In 2021, they founded ASBPN LLC, a pre-seed Renewable Energy startup focused on producing commodity chemicals and fuels from Renewable Energy using air and seawater as raw materials. The company aims to demonstrate the superiority of an Ocean-based solar PV barge over land-based solar PV systems and lay the groundwork for an International Decentralized energy grid.

In 2022, Ben joined EarthGrid, a Public Benefit Corporation, as a Test Engineer. Here they completed assembly and operation of a 1.2 MW DC Plasma torch and conducted experiments to gather data on thermal spallation drilling.

Most recently, they joined Nitricity as a Systems Engineer in 2022.

Ben Markham completed their education as follows:

From 2019 to 2021, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics at Columbia University.

Between 2011 and 2014, they attended the University of Minnesota, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a focus on Physics.

Prior to their undergraduate studies, they attended Jupiter High School from 2006 to 2009 and obtained their General Educational Development (GED) credential.

In terms of additional certifications, Ben Markham obtained the FE Exam (Chemical) from NCEES in September 2022.
