Michi Izumi Willcoxon

Sr. Director Of Protein Science at Nobell Foods

Michi Izumi Willcoxon has had a long and successful career in the field of protein science. In 2001, they began their career as a Post-Doctoral Associate at the University of Georgia. In 2003, they moved on to become an Assistant Project Scientist and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of California at Santa Barbara. During their five-year tenure there, they expedited molecular and biochemical studies utilizing recombinant proteins to characterize the mechanism of action of biomineralization and disguise of marine organisms. In 2008, they became a Research Scientist I/II at Corteva Agriscience, where they guided multiple projects focusing on discovering and optimizing insecticidal proteins. Michi notably enhanced three leads utilized currently within the Corteva product pipeline. In 2016, they took on the role of Senior Scientist at Second Genome, Inc. and two years later, in 2018, they were promoted to Director of Protein Science at Second Genome, Inc. Most recently, in 2022, they were appointed as Director of Protein Science at Nobell Foods.

Michi Izumi Willcoxon holds a PhD, MS and BS in Engineering (Biotechnology) from Osaka University.
