Carrie Auster Hammerman

Carrie Auster Hammerman has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and organizations. Carrie Auster started their career as a Program Manager at Cyber-state.org, where they conducted research projects on information technology and maintained organizational relationships with external partners. Carrie Auster then worked as a Policy Analyst at the Corporation for a Skilled Workforce, focusing on policy analysis, research, and outreach in areas such as microenterprise development and welfare-to-work policies.

Later, Hammerman transitioned to a role as a Consultant at the same organization, providing support and expertise in workforce development. Carrie Auster also served as a Leadership Consultant and Lecturer at the University of Michigan's Ford School of Public Policy, where they consulted on the Leadership Initiative and delivered lectures on leadership.

In 2015, Hammerman joined NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work) as an Organizational Development Consultant, where they provided capacity building support to nonprofits in Southeast Michigan. Carrie Auster then became the Organizational Development Director, leading a team of consultants and program staff to address organizational challenges and develop effective strategies for nonprofit organizations. In their most recent role as the Chief Strategy and Programs Officer, Hammerman guided NEW's overall approach to strategy, embracing innovation and data-driven decision-making to advance the organization's mission and vision.

Throughout their work experience, Hammerman has demonstrated a strong commitment to racial and social justice and has focused on these matters in strategic planning, facilitation, and leadership coaching. Carrie Auster has also played a significant role in advancing organizational missions, promoting sustainable social change, and fostering learning and adaptation within organizations.

Carrie Auster Hammerman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1998. Carrie Auster then went on to pursue a Master of Science of Information degree with a focus on Information, Economics, Management, and Policy from the University of Michigan - School of Information, which they completed in 2003. In the same time period, they also earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan - Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
