Nikhil Cheerla has a diverse work experience spanning different sectors and roles. In 2020, they founded Nooks, where they serve as the CTO, focusing on building a platform for remote teams to collaborate effectively. In the same year, Nikhil also worked as an ML Engineer at Tesla Autopilot, contributing to the development of autonomous driving technology.
Prior to that, Nikhil held a research internship position at Stanford University's Vision Lab from 2018 to 2019. Here, they developed a framework that improved computer vision solutions by enforcing cross-task consistency, achieving superior results and semantic meaningfulness.
In 2019, Nikhil worked as a Software Engineering Intern in Lyft's Perception Team, contributing to the development of a pipeline for semantic feature publishing and querying across autonomous vehicle scenes. Nikhil also worked on developing a semi-supervised framework for training perception models with limited labeled data.
Before this, Nikhil gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern at Quora, where they implemented improvements to machine learning algorithms used for question and answer ranking. Nikhil also developed an API for unifying questions and users within the same latent space.
In 2017, Nikhil worked as a Deep Learning Summer Intern at Cerebras Systems, where they designed "adaptive topology nets" and developed an API for generating Tensorflow-compatible kernel specifications.
In addition to their industry experience, Nikhil has also been involved in educational initiatives. Nikhil co-founded MathAndCoding.org, a non-profit organization that provides free coding workshops to students from elementary to high school. Nikhil has also participated in research programs at Stanford University and Harvard University, where they worked on projects related to rationally and cognition and deep learning methods for mitosis detection in histopathology slide images, respectively.
Overall, Nikhil Cheerla's work experience showcases their expertise in machine learning, computer vision, software engineering, and their passion for education and research.
Nikhil Cheerla pursued their education at Stanford University. Nikhil completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence Track from 2017 to 2021. Following that, they went on to pursue a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence Track at Stanford University from 2021 to 2023.
In addition to their formal education, Nikhil also obtained several certifications from Coursera. These certifications include "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "Convolutional Neural Networks," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Structuring Machine Learning Projects," and "Machine Learning." These certificates were obtained between 2016 and 2017.
