Summary:

The Class A DOT Driver will be responsible for driving and maintaining DOT vehicle to pick up and deliver loads, move equipment from location to location as needed and perform other driving needs of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely Operating and Maintaining DOT Equipment & Vehicles.

  • Maintain DOT required License, Medical Certification, and endorsements.

  • Driver must always be mindful of maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to the health and safety protocol always without exception as well as DOT regulations.

  • Operator is expected to know and abide by applicable road limitations, Hours of Service Rules, and weight restrictions.

  • Interstate travel to pick up loads in other states.

  • Ensure all hazardous materials are properly labeled, loaded, and secured in compliance with DOT regulations and company procedures.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and operational readiness.

  • Identify and report any vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns.

  • Keep ELD Hours of Service records.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling procedures for hazardous materials.

  • Ensure that all required permits, licenses, and certifications are up to date and in compliance with federal and state laws.

  • Respond appropriately to any incidents, spills, or emergencies, following company and regulatory protocols.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT Endorsement.

  • Valid CDL Medical Certification.

  • Clean Clearinghouse Status.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a commercial driver, preferably with experience in hazardous materials transportation.

  • Individual must demonstrate proficiency with safety protocol both on and off the jobsite, as a safe work environment is of maximum importance.

  • An adept knowledge of traffic laws, equipment operation ordinances.

  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report with no major violations.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and written skills with customers and employees. Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Utilize tablets to report on driving hours (ELD)

  • Must have organizational skills and be detail oriented. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Thorough understanding of DOT regulations, especially those related to hazardous materials (Hazmat).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

The employee occasionally is required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and to walk up to ½ mile daily. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision and distance vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and fumes or airborne particles.

Travel: Extensive travel is required, including long-distance driving.

Hours: Flexibility with working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Environment: Work involves exposure to hazardous materials, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.

Hours of operation may vary depending on job requirements.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
