Collin Doering

Collin Doering is currently the Engineering Manager at NoRedInk. Prior to this, they were the Senior Engineering Manager at eSentire from December 2018 to April 2022. In this role, they led the company's cloud infrastructure and devops teams, which spanned multiple timezones. Collin was responsible for regular 1-on-1's with team members, inspiring and coaching team leads, delegating much of the day-to-day team operations; for instance, stand-up meetings. Collin also created the Infrastructure Engineering team charter and worked with the VP of engineering to ratify it. Furthermore, they defined quarterly team OKRs, and worked along side senior engineering leaders to ensure these key results were aligned with business goals and needs. Using these OKRs as a basis, they worked with their team leads to define actionable, realistic roadmaps for work to be completed that quarter.

Collin also took part in architecture and planning meetings across other engineering teams, to ensure the tools and services managed and developed by the infrastructure engineering group met the needs of its stakeholders. Collin had the opportunity to organize and run two company hack weeks. With the authority that comes along with being a senior engineering leader, Collin was able to guide the architecture and implementation of enhancements to how AWS environments were provisioned. This marked a radical shift in the security model used at the company. Namely, all deployments operated within a completely network and IAM isolated environment, with a self-service mechanism in place to allow development teams to expose their services in a least-privileged way as required.
