Sue Elliott

Chief Audience Officer at Norman Rockwell Museum

Sue Elliott is the current Chief Audience Officer at Norman Rockwell Museum. Sue has held this position since January of 2022. Prior to that, they were the Director of the Tanglewood Learning Institute from August of 2018 to January of 2022.

Elliott was recruited to lead the BSO’s first combined facility/program expansion in 80 years, transforming Tanglewood from a summer festival to a year-round cultural destination. During their time with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, they provided critical support for BSO's pandemic-related transition to online and hybrid programming.

Some of their key accomplishments include providing entrepreneurial vision and strategic direction in a complex environment that required expertise in change management, business planning, program design and branding, community development, and operations. Sue was also able to establish long-term collaborations with local, national, and international partners including Martha Graham Dance Company, the Lobkowicz Collections, Mass Cultural Council, Jacob’s Pillow, Norman Rockwell Museum, Berkshire International Film Festival, and IS183 Art School of the Berkshires among others. In their first 24 months as founding director, Elliott opened the new Linde Center for Music and Learning, provided ad hoc leadership of implementation team for the BSO’s first online streaming platform, and designed and produced 15 program series with more than 200 in-person and online events featuring a diverse line-up of musicians, artists, scholars, and speakers that garnered national press coverage.

Sue Elliott earned a Master of Music from the University of Southern California, where they specialized in Clarinet Performance. Sue also holds an Artist Diploma from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Music Performance from McGill University. In addition, Sue has a Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from the National Guild for Community Arts Education and a Certification from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business in Digital Transformation: Leading People, Data, and Technology.
