Ellen Spear

Ellen Spear is the Chief Philanthropy Officer at Norman Rockwell Museum. Ellen has held this position since June 2018.

Previously, Ellen was the President & CEO of Heritage Museums & Gardens from March 2011 to June 2018. Prior to that, they were the President & CEO of Hancock Shaker Village from January 2005 to December 2011.

Ellen has dedicated their career to museum leadership and management. Ellen is a strong advocate for the arts and humanities, and believes that museums play an important role in preserving our cultural heritage.

Ellen Spear graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications/Broadcast Journalism.

Ellen Spear reports to Laurie Norton Moffatt, Director & CEO. They are on a team with Holly Coleman - Director of Human Resources, Stephanie Plunkett - Deputy Director & Chief Curator, and Sue Elliott - Chief Audience Officer. Some direct reports include Bailey Girvan - Senior Development Officer, Alexa Wichowsky - Development Associate.
