Edward Cole

Edward Cole, PhD, currently serves as the Director of Innovation & Technology for ENA at Norsk Hydro, having held various roles including Manager of Downstream R&D and Senior Research Engineer focusing on joining technologies. Edward has extensive experience in friction stir welding, arc welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fasteners, developed during an international assignment in Europe. Prior to Norsk Hydro, Edward worked at Sapa Extrusion North America as a Mechanical & Joining Engineer, where significant contributions included developing manufacturing processes for automotive chassis assembly. Earlier positions include Mechanical Engineer at Schlumberger, Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and internships with B&W Y-12 LLC, Honeywell FM&T, and Nissan Motor Corporation. Edward completed a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, enhancing a robust academic foundation that includes a Master's and Bachelor's degree in the same field.
