Derek Hunter

Special Deputy Attorney General/section Head (health Service Section) at NC Department of Justice

Derek Hunter began their work experience in 2007 as an Attorney at The Charleston Group. Derek then transitioned to the NC Department of Justice in 2010, where they held the role of Assistant Attorney General until November 2021. In December 2021, Derek was promoted to the position of Special Deputy Attorney General/Section Head in the Health Service Section at the NC Department of Justice.

Derek Hunter attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1994 to 2002, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Derek then pursued further education at the North Carolina Central University School of Law from 2004 to 2007, obtaining their Juris Doctor degree.
