John-Paul Smith has held various roles throughout their work experience. John-Paul has worked as the Executive Director at North Carolina Education Corps since September 2020. Prior to that, they were a MBA Summer Associate at Self-Help Credit Union in 2019. In 2018, they served as the Director of North Carolina Summer Fellows at the North Carolina Governor's Office. From 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Consultant for the Institute for Emerging Issues. John-Paul also held the position of Director of Innovate United at United Way of the Greater Triangle from 2015 to 2016, and worked as an Ambassador for the Franklin Project at The Aspen Institute during the same period. In 2014 to 2015, they were the Chief Innovation Officer at Forward Communities. Additionally, they served as a Board Member at Bull City Forward from 2012 to 2014, and as the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Manager at Greensboro Chamber of Commerce from 2012 to 2013. From 2010 to 2012, they were the Replication and Scaling Manager at Bull City Forward.
John-Paul Smith completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Elon University from 2005 to 2009. John-Paul then pursued higher education and obtained a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree at Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy from 2017 to 2020. Additionally, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School from 2018 to 2020.
