Nakija Jones, MEd, BSN, RN has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and settings. They began their career at Durham Regional Hospital as an RN Staff Nurse in the Ortho department from July 2000 to February 2003. Following this, Nakija worked as a Travel Nurse at RN Network from February 2003 to August 2004. They then took on a role as an Adjunct Professor at ECPI University from September 2008 to September 2009, teaching courses such as Pharmacology and Nursing Fundamentals. Nakija later joined North Carolina Specialty Hospital, where they held various positions. They started as a Staff Nurse/Charge Nurse in the Ortho/ENT department from November 2003 to December 2010. They also worked as a Quality Management Assistant from January 2010 to March 2013. Nakija then transitioned to the role of Utilization Review, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from December 2010 to August 2022. Additionally, they worked as the Director of Performance Outcomes from November 2014 to August 2022. Most recently, Nakija has been serving as the Chief Nursing Officer at North Carolina Specialty Hospital from August 2022. In this role, they oversee all nursing operations.
Nakija Jones, MEd, BSN, RN began their education in 1996 when they attended the University of Lynchburg. Nakija pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, which they completed in 2000. In 2005, Nakija enrolled at Strayer University, where they obtained a Master's degree in Education Management by 2007.
In addition to their degrees, Nakija has acquired various certifications throughout their career. In May 2021, they completed the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education. The following year, in May 2022, they obtained Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association. Most recently, in January 2023, Nakija completed the Black Executive Leadership Program at McKinsey & Company.
