North Sails
Martina Reche-Vilanova is an Industrial PhD Candidate at North Sails and North Windships since March 2022, focusing on wind propulsion systems for commercial ships through modeling, design, and cost optimization. Previously, Martina served as a Research Fellow at Harvard University and as a Research Assistant in the AEGIS EU Project, contributing to the management engineering team by identifying KPIs and developing cost-benefit analysis for autonomous ships and automated ports. Martina's experience includes working as an Aero-Hydrodynamic Engineer at bound4blue, where performance predictions for the eSAIL were conducted, and completing a Master's Thesis on wind-assisted propulsion systems at DNV GL - Maritime. Early career experience includes a research internship at KTH Maritime Robotics Laboratory, contributing to the design of an autonomous sailing drone. Education spans a Bachelor of Engineering and two Master's degrees in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and DTU, with current doctoral studies underway at DTU.
