Darren Adamson

Interim Dean, School of Social & Behavioral Sciences & Chair, Department of Marriage & Family Sciences at Northcentral University

Dr. Adamson joined the Northcentral University team in early 2010 as an adjunct faculty mentor in the marriage and family therapy programs. Currently he serves as the Chair of the Department of Marriage and Family Sciences in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

His experience in the clinical arena includes: serving as a Clinical Director for outpatient mental health and residential addictions treatment and working in a private MFT practice since 1987. Other professional experience includes: Director of Academic Affairs and Campus Director for University of Phoenix (New Mexico and Colorado) and founding Campus President for Argosy University Salt Lake City and Inland Empire, CA and for the Art Institute of Salt Lake City and as the Campus President for Argosy University, Southern California; the founding partner and CEO of the Solutions Group, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and health promotion company; Vice President of EAP and Managed Care Services for Mesa Mental Health and as an EAP coordinator for Intermountain Health Care.

Dr. Adamson has been a university professor since 1990, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in family relations, psychology and marriage and family therapy. Dr. Adamson has done research and has published or presented on topics as varied as: counseling for multigenerational families, Ethics in mental health practice, ethical considerations in online counseling, support for effective teaching and learning in an online educational environment.
