James Sumner

James Sumner is currently the Head of Procurement at Northland Power Inc., having held the position of Deputy Head of Procurement, where responsibilities included developing and integrating procurement practices within the organization. Prior to this role, James served as Global Procurement Manager, supporting strategic procurement initiatives in renewable energy. At Smart Freight Centre, James held the position of Technical Manager, leading projects focused on freight decarbonization solutions. James's extensive experience at Shell included roles such as CP GTL Engineer and Supply Chain Lead, contributing to major projects in LNG and FLNG sectors. Earlier in the career, as a Sustainability Advisor at CREM BV, James specialized in developing procurement criteria for environmentally friendly supply chains. James holds an MSc in Industrial Ecology from Leiden University and a BSc in Environmental Biology from the University of Birmingham.
