Maria Hamakiotis has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Maria started their career at McGill University Health Centre, where they worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and later as a Nursing Practice Manager for Ambulatory Services. In 2013, they joined Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation as the Associate Director of ambulatory care nursing. Since 2014, they have been working at Northwestern Medicine, where they held several leadership positions, including Director of Nursing and Professional Practice, Associate Chief Nurse Executive, Director of professional practice and development, and currently, Director of Operations for General Surgery, Neurosciences, and Orthopedics.
Maria Hamakiotis, MSN, RN, NE-BC, completed their education at McGill University. Maria obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing from 1994 to 1997 and a Master of Science (MSc) in Nursing from 1998 to 2002. Additionally, they have obtained certifications as an AONL Director Fellow from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership in 2021 and as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in August 2018.
