Michael O'Gara

Michael O'Gara serves as the Senior Director of Software Engineering at Northwestern Mutual, leading a team focused on innovative technology solutions for the Retirement Distribution and Planning Experience. With extensive experience in financial planning and technology, previous roles include Chief of Staff and Assistant Director of Software Engineering, where Michael managed large teams to enhance enterprise financial planning software and fostered a shift-left culture in engineering practices. Prior to Northwestern Mutual, Michael held key positions at LearnVest, TIAA, Capital One, MetLife, and completed a marketing internship at the FBI. Michael's educational background includes a B.S. in Business Administration from the University at Albany, a Financial Planning Certificate from The College of Saint Rose, and software development training from Fullstack Academy of Code.
