Kimberley Simms has a strong background in widening participation and community engagement in the higher education sector. Kimberley is currently the Head of Widening Access and Community Engagement at Nottingham Trent University since 2023. Prior to this, they held the role of Head of Widening Participation at the University of Nottingham from 2018 to 2023. Kimberley also worked at the University of Sheffield from 2014 to 2018, where they held multiple roles including Outreach Officer and Researcher, focusing on communication strategies, data management, and evaluation of outreach and widening participation programs.

Kimberley Simms completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography at The University of Sheffield from 2008 to 2011. Prior to that, they attended The Elizabethan High School in Retford from 2000 to 2007. Kimberley later pursued Teaching in the Primary School at the Leicester and Leicestershire Primary SCITT from 2011 to 2012.
