Dan Hughes has worked in various roles in the scientific industry since 2011. Dan began as a Lab Technician at Oxford Immunotec in 2011, where they were responsible for running interferon gamma release assays to test blood samples for Tuberculosis. Dan then worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2012 to 2014, where they focused on the identification of nutrients that limit methane producing communities within coalbed wells. In 2014, they began working as an Analyst III at ACZ Laboratories, Inc., where they evaluated environmental water and soil samples for specific organic products and contaminants. From 2015 to 2017, they worked as an Analytical Chemist at TEQ Analytical Labs, where they performed routine analysis of marijuana, concentrates and infused products. In 2017, they became a Validation Engineer at Millstone Medical. In 2018, they began working as a Scientific Operations Manager at MCR Labs, where they led the company's efforts to deliver a premiere level of science to the cannabis industry. Finally, in 2020, they became a Lab Manager at Nova Analytic Labs.

Dan Hughes attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General in 2012. Dan then completed a Master's degree in Microbiology, General at the same institution in 2014.
